(Don't) Fall on me

Continuing the trend of things falling from the sky very close to where I happen to be, a helicopter crashed into New York Harbor directly across from my office in downtown Brooklyn on Tuesday. And then, um, another one crashed into the East River today, though I wasn't particularly near this one (I wasn't particularly far away, either). Times quote of the day from the article about today's crash:

At least three bystanders jumped into the water after seeing the chopper go down, officials said. One, a Fresh Direct employee, helped pull a victim to the shore, then left to go back to work. "He said, 'Hey, I've got to go,'" Mr. Kelly said. "We tried to get him to stay."

There was also a large fire two block's from my mother's place in Sea Gate this morning, which I was nowhere near. As far as I know, I have nothing at all to do with the shit out in California.

    And I thought I was cool because a helicopter landed in the park across the street from my office on Monday. Turns out the Army was founded in said park 230 years ago this week, so for some reason they brought in a helicopter to celebrate. Who knew? We all went across the street to check it out and got to sit in the helicopter. It was fun!

Beep Beep Beep Beep, Yeah!

Cars are scary. They're big steel machines of doom. I do not trust that a car I operate won't just stop working as a drive it. I fear running over nails. I fear psycho people in lanes next to me losing their minds and making sharp turns of their steering wheels to crash into me...for no reason. No one (aside from Jeff) at all understands my fear of driving. Not just, "driving at night is a little creepy." We're talking nightmares. Every bad dream I have that I can remember involves me operating a vehicle careening out of control. Me driving a vehicle without brakes. Some small updates

A. We're married (yay us!), and much love to all our friends, family, and especially parents who made our wedding so wonderful. There are various sites cropping up around the Internet with unauthorized paparazzi pictures, and I won't condone that sort of thing by linking to them (if you have uploaded any, I guess you can link to them in the comments to this post). When there are some sort of official pictures available, I'll let folks know. B. We're on our honeymoon (yay us!), and while we obviously have Internet access in the room, we're doing our best not to be huge nerds and we're getting out and enjoying St. Kitts. I've already uploaded some photos to Flickr that you can check out now , and as I take more, more will be uploaded to the same photoset. The photoset has been updated with a bunch more pictures, and I think Sheryl will be uploading some of her own to her Flickr account as well.
